Danny Nichols

My name is Donny Nichols. I am running for the position of councillor for the Village of Caroline. I have been on this council for the last two years, the last year serving the community in the office of Deputy Mayor. While I may be young, I have extensive experience with governance. Since high school I have been involved in our community doing everything I can to make Caroline a good place to live. In college I sat on SAITSA’s board of directors. Some accolades I have earned include the SAITSA Apex Award and the Caroline High School Citizenship Award. I promise to continue to serve our community dutifully and diligently and with the help of your vote I intend on keeping that promise.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a long and arduous time for citizens and public servants alike. However, when it comes to policy regarding this I believe a municipal government should make decisions based on the good of their constituents. Taking away their right to choose should not be part of that policy. Everyone should maintain their right to make their own decisions. However, I do believe that the opinions of our medical professionals; not our politicians or friends and relatives, should be the advice we choose to follow.
Thirdly, our budget has seen improvements in the last year or so. This is due mainly to the restructuring orchestrated by our hardworking administration staff of the past and present. So, I would first and foremost like to thank them for that. With this budget we should continue to focus on the much-needed improvements to Caroline and its infrastructure in order to bring a higher population and business sector to us.
