Joan C. Beaudin
June 5, 1933 – April 4, 2024

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Constance (Wells) Beaudin on April 4, 2024, in Red Deer, Alta., at the age of 90. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 67 years, Lord, their three children, Corinne (Spencer), Pamela (Kevin) and Michael (Caroline). Also four grandchildren, Christa, Joseph (Lindsay), Danielle and Dustin; and eight great-grandchildren, Ember, Matrim, Helene, Nicholas, Cayman, Haleigh, Dylan and Clayton, sister Diana (Fred) and brothers-in-law, Dennis and Earnest and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, obtaining her teaching degree in 1953. She met Lord in McGregor, Man., in 1956 and they married in 1957, moving to Westbourne to live the country life. There they raised their three children. Joan spent many years gardening, and teaching life skills as a 4-H Leader to many teenagers and continued her volunteer activities after moving to Alberta in 1982.

Joan’s greatest joy was her love of children, knitting, and gardening. Joan’s love of gardening was only surpassed by her love of knitting, with many of her friends’ kids and grandkids wearing the items that she lovingly made. She knitted and donated many toques for the NICU and new born babies at the Rocky Hospital, operated a day home for many years and was part of the square dancing community for over 35 years where she forged lasting bonds of friendships with many. Joan also volunteered for many years with the Rocky Museum, the Pioneer Centre, and later on at the Cowboy Church where she made many dear friends.

Joan also loved to paint pansies on rocks, and her rocks can be found scattered throughout Canada and the United States. She really loved gifting her rocks to so many friends and acquaintances.

Joan will be dearly missed by all that knew her, family and friends. She was the matriarch of our family, and we will miss her till the end of time, and her passing has left a great void in our hearts.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Arbutus Hall (just east of Rocky Mountain House, AB) at 2 p.m. Refreshments and drinks to be served. Please feel free to drop by and reminisce and say goodbye to a wonderful lady who will be so missed by all that knew her.
