Vivian Mary
Butterwick
Born in Provost, Alta., to Charlie and Mary Chilton, Vivian was the second oldest in a family of 10 children. A true meant-to-be miracle, considering that in 1912, as a baby Mary held a ticket on the Titanic but the family was not able to board due to her sickness. Mom had aspirations of becoming a librarian. Then, in 1949, soon after graduating high school, Mom met our Dad, Bernard Ashley Butterwick, at a dance. In 1950, they married at her young age of 20, beginning a life together, that they would share for 67 wonderful years, until Dad’s passing in 2017. Vivian was a great sister, wife, mother and friend. She was gifted at making a house a home and supporting and caring dearly for her children and family. She enjoyed cooking, home design, gardening and reading. Most of all, she loved being together with family and making people happy. She was a strong, brave breast cancer survivor. Vivan will be deeply missed and is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren: son, Larry (wife Marilyn), Kimberley (Jeremy), Ashley (Matt), Taylor and Sydney and Ryan, McKenzie and Rhyse; son Doug, Cory, Camryn and Keith (Kylie), Adria, Christian and Tyler, residing in Australia; daughter Cheri, Brett (Sara) and Bailey (Mike). Vivian is survived by sister Doris (Fred), brother-in-law George and sister-in-law Betty; and predeceased by sisters Sandy, Peggy (Bud), Jean (Lou), Lucy (Ron), Norma and brothers Glen (Donna), Keith and Rick (Nicole). She is also predeceased by in-laws George and Alice Butterwick, William and Nora Ferris, and William and Delores Butterwick. May she rest in peace. Love you, Mom. Kindly note that Vivian will be cremated at Rocky Mountain House, Alta., and as per her wishes, there will be no service held at this time. Condolences may be forwarded to www.rockyfuneralhome.ca. Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements. |
