Leo Conrad
Lund
Leo Conrad Lund was born June 12, 1935, in the Condor Birthing Centre near where his family farmed in the Little Horseguard district. His parents were Alfred and Sophie Lund who predeceased him, along with his younger brother Lorne and sister Lois. From grades 1 to 5, Leo went to the Little Horseguard School. He then attended Grades 6 to 9 in the Beaver Flat School starting in 1945 when his family moved to that district. Leo boarded in Rocky so he could attend Grades 10 to 12, graduating in 1953. After high school, during the winters he worked at lumber camps and geophysical companies. In summers, he began doing road construction around the province. When Leo left the construction of roads life, he began farming with his father and carried on following Alfred’s death. Almost thirty years ago he sold his cows, parked his equipment, and began pasture agreements with neighbours. During this time of his life he explored his Lund heritage, travelled to Norway and drove around western Canada, visiting family. Leo liked reading — especially history — bird watching, photography, classical music and watching sports on television. A memorial service will be held for Leo Lund on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, Rocky Mountain House. Interment will be at the Horseguard Cemetery, laying him to rest with family members. For anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Leo’s name, please consider giving to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
