Michael Stiopu
He was surrounded by his wife Angela, son Christopher and daughter Lindsay (Laken). Mike leaves behind a legacy as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother but also a dear friend to so many with his loving and giving, helpful nature. Mike was born in Burnaby, B.C., but was raised mostly in the Okanagan where he loved to play tennis and water ski, and quite a few more sports. Mike loved camping and quadding — the muddier, the better! He also loved spending time going for a ride with wife Angela on his Harley Davidson. He had to work first even before school, delivering papers very early in the morning before school. Mike was such a talented man; there really was not anything that he could not do or fix — or at least try. He was a carpenter, electrician, plumber, mechanic … just so impressive! He had an amazing gentle soul. He never got too excited about things, he just handled things very well and with ease. Mike is survived by his wife Angela of fourteen-and-a-half years but they were together for over 17 years building a life in Alhambra, Alta. Mike was predeceased by his brother Johnny, his parents Elizabeth Stiopu and John Stiopu. He is survived by his children: Lindsay Wennerstrom (Laken), Christopher Stiopu (Darien), Nicole Stiopu (Alexandra); stepsons: Ian Gable (Angela) and Evan Gable (Angela); brother Peter Stiopu; Irma Phinney; Betty Swagger (Mike); numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and abundance of good friends. A celebration of life will be held in Rocky Mountain House on Dec. 21, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Nazarene, 5340-59 Ave., Rocky Mountain House, Alta. In lieu of flowers or donations may be made to the ROAR Society in Rocky Mountain House, Alta. Condolences may be forwarded to www.rockyfuneralhome.ca. Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements. |
