Margaret Irene Valstar
May 14, 1948 – Feb. 28, 2025

Margaret Irene Valstar (Nee Baker) passed away with family by her side in the Rocky hospital.

After a long battle with primary progressive aphasia, the good Lord has taken her in.

Margaret was the oldest child born to Ralph and Irene Baker in the Eckville hospital. After which she moved around the countryside 17 times before moving out on her own to Wetaskiwin.

This is where she met Laverne Muyres, married and had four children. After a few more moves, she eventually settled in the Buster Creek flats with her husband Gus and five stepchildren.

A homemaker she was ... gardening, cooking, sewing, crafting, and baking her famous zucchini chocolate cake, always served with a cup of tea. She had a passion for music and loved to dance.

Despite being the worst back-seat driver, she actually had her Class 2 and 3 licence, and drove gravel truck and school bus. Working beside her husband on the family farm, raising cattle, and all kinds of critters, she learned there were two seasons in her house ... haying season and trucking season. Over her years, she was involved in numerous volunteer positions with 4-H and the Buster Creek Hall.

Margaret was a rock for the family and always had an open door to everyone that stopped by. She was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her spouse of 47 years, Gus Valstar; her children: Michael (Anne) Muyres, Shane (Lorelei) Muyres, Cody (Tammy) Muyres, Candace (Hal) Kinsella; her stepchildren: (Wayne) Brabant, Joanne (Peter) Moeller, Debbie (Curtis) Kramer, Harry Valstar, and Casper Valstar; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is pre-deceased by her parents Ralph and Irene Baker; brothers Darrell, Patrick and Wesley; and her stepdaughter Nellie Brabant.

There will not be a funeral service for Margaret.

Donations can be made to any palliative care facility.
