Robert (Bob) Herbert Winchester
April 22, 1953 - April 5, 2025

Bob passed away at the age of 71. Bob was born on April 22, 1953, in Rocky Mountain House, Alta., to Jean and Jim Winchester. He was the fifth of 10 children and grew up and attended school in Rocky Mountain House. At age 16, Bob left school and ventured to the oilfield, working as a rig hand. After some time, he decided that this was not a career he enjoyed. Bob started operating heavy equipment. He excelled at running heavy equipment and was a skilled operator, the Cat was his machine of choice. Over the years, he contracted with various companies, M. Umschied Construction Ltd. and McMeekin Resources Ltd.
Bob was a loving father of three children he had with his first wife, Delores. Bob met the love of his life, Eileen, later in life and had many happy years together until her passing. He spent many great holidays on Vancouver Island.

Bob loved the west and spent many hours fishing for trout, hunting and camping. Bob loved to visit with his friends and family. Bob liked to live in his holiday trailer in the summer on his friend Brent’s land and moved into town with his sister Patty for the winter months. Bob was easy to chat with and had good advice — whether you wanted to hear it or not. Bob was honest to a fault and relished having the last word.

Bob leaves to mourn his children: Clancy, Sandra, and Robbie; his grandchildren: Ashleigh, Cameron, Brandon, Sheridan, Archer, Zsabian; his sisters: Shirley, Patty, Helen (Pat), Julie (Brian), and Susan; his brothers: Jim (Dona) and Ricky: and his numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob was predeceased by his special friend and partner Eileen, his parents, Jean and Jim Winchester, his sister Barbara, and brother Barry.

A service will be held at a later date.
