Merton Wolf
June 4, 1933 – July 23, 2025

Our beloved patriarch and hero, Mert Wolf, went home to his heavenly family on July 23, 2025, at the age of 92.

Dad had a very full life. He had many roles over the years, truck driver, rig hand and second-hand store owner to name a few. Dad was a lifelong lover of music, having learned to play guitar and fiddle at a young age. He never learned to read music but could play most any instrument by ear. Dad played in the bars and for dances in his younger years and then became a dedicated volunteer, playing for 50-plus years at Westview Lodge, as well as other lodges around the country. Dad was well known and well loved as a country and western singer, and music played an important part in life until the end.

Merton Lee Wolf is a name that was associated with kindness. Dad was always up to helping anyone in need. Whether it was a fundraiser or someone in need of tools or assistance, Dad was there.

Dad was also a very family-orientated man. His wife and kids, his siblings and his dad and stepmother were a very important part of his life. Merton and his twin brother, Marvin, were very close. Even with one living in Rocky and the other living in Edmonton, they managed to spend a lot of time together. They attended a lot of musical events and were always up to “playing a tune.”

Dad loved to tease anyone and everyone around him. He definitely earned the love and respect of family and friends alike. Dad had a special relationship with each grandchild and great-grandchild. They all have special memories of Grampa. Dad has made his journey to the other side, but his memory will live on in each and everyone one of us.

Dad was predeceased by wife Marjie, as well as four sisters and three brothers, leaving him the last of his generation. Dad was also predeceased by a stepdaughter and a stepson. He will be greatly missed by Mary Anne (Ubby), Melvin (Phylis), Tommy, (Sandra) and Brenda (Marty); extended family: Delbert (Jan), Donna (John), Harvey (Charlene) and Joanne (Dan); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. A high number of dad’s friends had already passed, but they will have been there to greet him on the other side.

A memorial service will be held on Aug. 5, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Rocky Mountain House. Memorial donations may be made to ROAR, West Country Family Service Association and the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.

Condolences may be forwarded to www.rockyfuneralhome.ca.
