A.W. “Bill” Enticknap
Aug. 6, 1924 – June 23, 2021

Bill Enticknap passed away peacefully on June 23, 2021, in Lacombe Hospital, Lacombe, Alta.
Bill was born on Aug. 6, 1924, to Annie and William Enticknap in Meyronne, Sask. He was raised in Kincaid, Sask., and had an active youth playing many sports, but hockey, baseball and curling were his main love.
Bill joined the Canadian Armed Forces in May of 1943 and served until August of 1945, returning to Kincaid where he worked in their local hardware, plumbing and heating store. In May of 1949 Bill married Evelyn Lawrence; they raised five children together: Sandra, Pat, Bill, Brian and Lynda. He operated the family business from 1945 till 1969, when after three years of drought, he sold out and moved to Rocky Mountain House. In 1971, he purchased the Wildwood Esso business and in 1977 his son Bill joined him as a partner. They expanded in 1981 to build the Carline Muffler building next to the Esso which they operated together until 1995.
Bill was very active in both the Kincaid and Rocky communities, mainly with the Legion and Lions clubs. Over the years he received many of the top awards that these organizations present for outstanding achievement. The friendships that Bill made lasted all his years and he cherished them to the end. He was an avid golfer and curler and truly loved the many golf tournaments and curling bonspiels he attended throughout the years. With an always positive attitude and his resilience right to the end, he was a truly remarkable man.
Bill always talked about how fortunate it was that the family had relocated to Rocky, and then when he moved into the Westview Lodge he talked about how lucky he was to be able to be in such a “first class place.” As age crept up on him, he realized that he needed a higher level of care, so at 96 years he moved to Royal Oaks in Lacombe, but time and old age had run its course and on June 23, 2021, Bill passed away peacefully.
Bill is survived by his children Sandra (Dwight), Pat (Jim), Bill, Brian (Lyn), and Lynda (Andrew); his grandchildren Jason, Jillian, Karen, Sarah, Jane, Ben, Brooklynne, Morganne and Erin.
Bill was predeceased by his sister Vera; granddaughter Joanna and his parents Annie and William.
Bill will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, Rocky Mountain House, Alta., on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 2 p.m.
