Golede Aleda Fowler of Rocky Mountain House passed away Feb. 3, 2021, at the age of 91 years at the Rimbey Care Centre. She is survived by daughters Carol Smith-Gander (Ray) of Red Deer, Sharon Wieting (John) of Drayton Valley, Jan Fowler of Edmonton, Deana Ridder and Julie Both of Rocky Mountain House; grandchildren Neil Smith-Gander, Justin and Kimberly Wieting, Aaron Hassink; great-grandchildren Destiny and Teaghan Smith-Gander, Koren and Serena Wieting; step-great grandson, Jayden Cecchetti and sister-in-law, Darlene O’Coin and family of Edmonton.
Golede was predeceased by her husband, Dean, her parents, Isair and Margaret Hendrickson and her brother, Bud.
Golede was born at Lone Ridge near Falun, Alta. Years later she enjoyed farm life with Dean at Pigeon Lake where she always grew large vegetable gardens and sewed clothing items for her family. She was a self-taught seamstress and was leader of the Mount Butte 4-H Sewing Club for numerous years during the ’60s. The family later moved from the farm to Drayton Valley and then later permanently settled in Rocky Mountain House where she loved to attend antique sales, scrapbooking, playing BINGO and watching the Oiler hockey games.
As per Golede’s wishes, no service will be held and she chose to be cremated. For those who so desire, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Alberta, #306, 10430-61 Ave. NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 2J3 or a charity of your choice.
