James Albert Rose
1931 – 2021

On Jan. 21, 2021, Sgt. James Albert Rose passed away after a vicious battle with cancer. How do you describe Jim’s life in a paragraph? Jim served his country with the PPCLI (Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry) in the Korean war, Vietnam, Germany, Cyprus as well as other deployments around the world. On Sept. 12, 1963, Jim successfully completed Ranger Special Forces training in Fort Benning, Georgia. Before military service Jim worked the trap lines of Northern Saskatchewan with his brothers and then went to the Klondike to work the river boats.
Jim’s life started in motion from the moment of his birth, March 31, 1931 on the train that left from Edmonton heading towards Tisdale, Sask. Who knew that when he grew up, he’d travel to distant parts of the world? Jim had four brothers and two sisters; Ruth, Wes, Cliff, Dave, Donna and Wayne.
Jim is predeceased by his parents John and Martha Rose, along with his wife of 40 years Jean Ella Rose and his second wife Sylvia Rose.
Jim has three children, Christine Anne, Patricia Colleen and Gordon Douglas. Jim has seven grandchildren, Christy, Stephen, Kathryn, Ian, Neil, Kailynn and Teagan. Jim had several nieces, nephews and even more friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
A service for Jim will be held at a later time when we can celebrate his life and honour his service to our country.
