Lloyd Switzer

Lloyd Switzer passed away peacefully on March 19, 2018, at the Rocky Mountain House Hospital, Rocky Mountain House, Alta. at the age of 86 years.
Lloyd was born on Oct. 5, 1931, to Benjamin and Anna Switzer in Hazenmore, Sask. He was one of eight children: four boys and four girls. Lloyd spent his early years farming in Hazenmore until he moved in 1958 to Elbow, Sask., to operate the local hotel, where he met and married Eva Hagen in 1960. Lloyd and Eva returned to farming and raising their three boys. In 1976, Lloyd and his family moved to Rocky Mountain House, Alta., where he worked at various positions until his retirement from Alberta Forestry in 1994. Lloyd loved the mountains and exploring Canada, travelling to many remote designations including Alaska, Northwest Territories and both east and west coasts.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva; sons Kemis (Maureen), Arno (Lisa and their children Ryan and Tyler), and Jason; older brother Fred (Marg) Switzer and sisters-in-law Joyce Switzer and Doreen Hagen.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, six of his siblings, six brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and two nieces.
A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8, Rocky Mountain House at 2 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Funeral Home and Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alta.
