There was a new kid on the block this year in midget hockey. The U15 AA midget Panthers, a development team drawing players from across central Alberta, including Rocky Mountain House, took the Royal Edmonton Metro Hockey League by storm, taking home both the league and championship gold.
“There are so many good AA hockey players in central Alberta, I knew we were going to have a good year,” said head coach Lane Moore.
Moore’s goal from the start was to put together a team that could win and win big, a goal he says was achieved thanks to the character of his players.
“We had a good group of kids with a good work ethic. They worked really hard and developed a lot,” said Moore. “I’m proud of them, their hard work paid off in the end.”
