Elections Canada’s Leanne Nyirfa, who is the Regional Media Advisor (Alberta), advised that there are certain dates and information that voters should be aware of for the upcoming federal election.
“Up to Oct. 15 at 6 p.m., you can vote at any Elections Canada office. The Rocky Mountain House Elections Canada office is located at 4733 - 45 Street (Big Horn Mall), Suite 6 and is open the following days/times: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.,” said Nyirfa.
“Alternatively, you can vote at an advance poll (Oct. 11 to 14) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or at an election day poll on Oct. 21 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. For the advance polls and on election day, you must go to the polling station stated on the Voter Information Card (VIC) you should have received in the mail, If you did not receive a VIC in the mail, please contact Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868 or elections.ca. You do not need your VIC to vote. The VIC can be used as a piece of ID but you still need to provide another piece of ID to vote if you are using your VIC as one piece of ID.”
Election forum cancelled
The Rocky and District Chamber of Commerce had originally scheduled an all-candidates forum for Oct. 8 at the Royal Canadian Legion R.L Zengel Branch.
However, they have advised that they are cancelling the event.
“The Chamber has decided to cancel the federal election forum due to lack of candidate participation and believe that exchange of views would not be possible in our current format,” explained a statement from the Chamber office.
